In the june 2011 issue Germanys leading astronomy magazine "Sterne und Weltraum" did a benchmark test with eyepieces of a focal length of 50mm and more.

These eyepieces are preferred on large focal length scopes for viewing large nebulae, star clusters and galaxies, where a large true field of view is needed. Compared with eyepieces from Vixen, TeleVue and others, the BRESSER SPL is in front not only because of the attractive pricing, but also regarding the true field of view, manufacturing and image quality, Bernd Weisheit states.

The BRESSER SPL 56mm (Art. No. 49-20190) captivates with good image sharpness and shows low chromatic aberration. Additionally with its focal length and the apparent field of view of 52 degrees it shows the largest true FOV possible with a two inch barrel.

Dipl. Phys. Ing. Bernd Weisheit concludes: "Taking price and manufacturing quality into account, the Bresser 56mm SPL quite clearly is the price performance winner."
