The DS-2090MAK consists of a reflecting telescope (mirror telescope) set up on an automatic controlled azimutal single-arm fork-mount. The Maksutov-Cassegrain optics is a reflecting telescope with an additional Maksutov lens built in. This lens facilitates brilliant and sharp images. Due to the additional secondary mirror on the back of this lens the telescope is lightweight and compact, despite its high focal length. With the two motors, the azimutal mount navigates with horizontal and vertical movements to the desired target. The included AutoStar #494 handbox electronically controls the telescope.

Without the need of a laptop or PC, the AutoStar automatically positions the telescope and tracks numerous celestial objects. It compensates for earths rotation, so that the observed object is kept in the middle of the field of view.

Thea built-in red dot finder scope makes finding celestial objects easy and comfortable.

Application range

The Meade DS-2090 MAK enables the ambitioned starter to explore the night sky with a lot of comfort. Automatic positioning (GoTo) with numerous objects in the database, tracking of the object and a moderate weight make observing easy, be it in the garden, on a balcony or at or in the open country far away from city lights.

The 90mm aperture with the powerful Maksutov-Cassegrain optics are well suited for detailed observations of our earths moon or planets of our solar system. Small, but bright objects outside or solar system like globular clusters or planetary nebulae can be observed as well. Using optional accessories (amici prism, T2 camera adapter), it can be used as a spotting scope or telephoto lens and mounted on a photo tripod via the included tripod thread.
