Meade DS-2080 AT-LNT

The DS-2080 consists of a refracting telescope set up on an automatic controlled azimutal single-arm fork-mount. The refractor with 80mm aperture has a focal length of 800mm which results in a focal ratio (aperture value) of f/10.

The DS-2080 consists of a refracting telescope set up on an automatic controlled azimutal single-arm fork-mount. The refractor with 80mm aperture has a focal length of 800mm which results in a focal ratio (aperture value) of f/10. With its two motors, the azimutal mount navigates with horizontal and vertical movements to the desired target. The included AutoStar #494 handbox electronically controls the telescope.

Without the need of a laptop or PC, the AutoStar automatically positions the telescope and tracks numerous celestial objects. It compensates for earths rotation, so that the observed object is kept in the middle of the field of view.

The included LNT-module (Level-North-Technology") further simplifies the alignment procedure, it sets the optical tube pointing north and levels it. The LNT-module has a built-in red dot finder scope which makes observing easy and comfortable.

Application range

The DS-2080AT enables the ambitioned starter to explore the night sky with a lot of comfort. Automatic positioning (GoTo) with numerous objects in the database, tracking of the object and a moderate weight make observing easy, be it in the garden, on a balcony or at or in the open country far away from city lights.

The 80mm aperture will show many details on earths moon with its craters and valleys, the rings of Saturn or Jupiters cloud bands. Even objects beyond our solar system like star clusters or bright nebulae can be observed with this telescope.
